HELLO!
My name is Andrew, and I’m a visual artist, illustrator, designer, and educator based in Toronto (ish).
I enjoy experimenting with unconventional materials and abstract mark-making to create unexpected textures that I integrate into my digital work flow. My aesthetic has been described as retro-futuristic, juxtaposing graphic shapes with energetic textures and bold colour (which absolutely includes black and white).
Although digital image-making remains central to my practice, I'm especially interested in developing ways for my illustrations to extend beyond the screen through material exploration and object-making by using techniques such as collage, laser-cutting, and textile work. Whether I'm working on a commissioned illustration, an exhibition installation, or a self-directed project, I strive to create thoughtful visual solutions that balance playfulness with conceptual depth.
Outside of the studio, I'm an Ontario Certified Teacher with a passion for teaching visual expression and communication. My educational practice is deeply informed by my studio work, and I find reward in encouraging experimentation, material exploration, and meaningful image-making while helping students develop confidence in their own creative voice.
I find inspiration in abstraction, nature, the human figure, mythology, queer culture, ancient history, good food, beautiful typography, and fashion (that I can't afford).
If you'd like to collaborate, I'd love to hear from you!
