SUMINAGASHI SHADOW
An experimental piece that translates the fluid patterns of suminagashi—a Japanese method of ink marbling—into a tangible object.
As light moves across the object's surface, the shadow it casts echoes the ephemeral qualities of the marbling process. In this way, the piece—in which the shadow is an integral component—exists simultaneously as a fixed object and a fluid composition. It is both permanent and fleeting, static and ever-changing.
